OSHA 5602, OSX 930 - Update for Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course

Course Description

This course is intended to update the authorized Disaster Site Worker trainer with new technical and regulatory information related to disaster response, and the role of OSHA in coordinating occupational safety and health in the National Response Framework.

Who Should Attend

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety during construction and cleanup operations, at government declared disaster sites, looking to renew their Outreach Trainer Authorization.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain the role of OSHA in coordinating occupational safety and health under the worker safety and Health Support Annex
  2. Identify the impact on disaster work zone safety of the new Federal Highway Administration regulations and OSHA standards
  3. Recognize NIOSH-certified respirators for the use of CBRNE incidents
  4. Describe how to improve communication between groups that will be involved in rescue/recovery operations
  5. Describe working conditions common to disaster responses that impact the psychological and physical wellness of responders.

Prerequisites: OSHA #5600 Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course. Authorized Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend this course once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status. Prior to registration, students must provide a copy of their current Outreach Training Program trainer card or an official transcript from their respective OSHA Training Institute Education Center showing successful completion of the OSHA #5600 Disaster Site Worker Training Course for verification of Outreach Training Program trainer status.

Cost: $225
Recommended Materials: Pen, pencil, highlighter and writing pad.It is recommended that each student bring a laptop for use in preparing presentations.

Steps to Enroll:

  1. Submit copy of Outreach Trainer Card to osha@csudh.edu, indicate Update Course date and location you wish to attend (Please note: Outreach Trainer Card must be no more than 90 days expired at the start of the Update Course.
  2. If approved, a permission number will be issued to you (allow 1-2 business days for processing).
  3. Contact the registration office to provide permission number and payment for course (310-243-3741).
